Press Pause This Summer At Grand Beach Resort

I did something I haven’t done much of this year; hit pause and ran away with my family. Half of me wanted to run far, (like without them) the other half wanted to feel like we were still at home. So I packed up the kids, grabbed the hand of my husband, and went to the Grand Beach Resort in Traverse City Michigan.

Life is busy. Between school functions and doctor visits, work and bills, the world can spin so quickly you get dizzy in it. The past year has been a whirlwind, and I decided that for one weekend I didn’t want to be a co-worker, I didn’t want to be a bill payer, or someone’s employee. I just wanted to be a mom.

Our room had a lakefront view that would make Poseidon jealous, and for 2 days I let the sound of waves replace the sound of “busy”. They have a rating of 8.8 on Booking.com so clearly this is not just me blowing smoke, the place was Disney Land.

I let my kids eat fistfuls of Doritos, and didn’t lose my crap when my 5-year-old started jumping on the bed. I wanted to sink into the moment with them at the pool. At the hot tub I pretended I was a teenager and flirted with my husband. I’m 30 years old, have birthed 3 children, and the guy still gives me bedroom eyes when he sees me in a bikini. BTW sorry to the 16-year-old girls who were just trying to enjoy the pool area…#awkward.

Florida is nice, the Bahamas are cool, but in my humble opinion, only the Great Lakes can create memories that feel rooted in family and familiarity. So this summer, make sure you go to the gym, be the rockstar you are in that cubicle, but don’t forget to hit pause.

You can’t run yourself ragged. You need some ‘me-time’ and your family needs it too. Tell your husband you need a vacation, and let your kids overdose on vending machine snacks. The only thing standing between you and your flip flops is this blog. So tap the link and book a weekend at the Grand Beach Resort in Traverse City Michigan.

I’ll see you there.
